Debby Herbenick, PhD, MPH

Dr. Herbenick, PhD is a Professor in the Department of Applied Health Science and Director of the Center for Sexual Health Promotion in the Indiana University School of Public Health. Her research focuses on sexual and reproductive health, with a focus on tracking sexual behaviors and trends in the United States through nationally representative surveys. Dr. Herbenick is also an AASECT-certififed sexuality educator.

Casey Bennet, PhD

Dr. Casey Bennett is an Associate Professor in the School of Intelligence at Hanyang University in Seoul (Korea), and an adjunct professor at DePaul University in Chicago. 

His current work includes artificial intelligence in clinical decision-making for chronic illness, utilizing robotic pets for therapeutic purposes with elderly people, and development of robotic sensor systems for monitoring in-home patient health.

Selma Šabanović, PhD,

Dr. Šabanović is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Graduate Education of The Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering at Indiana University, Bloomington. Her work combines the social studies of computing, focusing particularly on the design, use, and consequences of socially interactive and assistive robots in different social and cultural contexts, with research on human-robot interaction (HRI) and social robot design

Čedomir Stanojević, PhD(c), CTRS

Cedomir Stanojevic is a doctoral candidate and a graduate research assistant at Indiana University, Bloomington in the School of Public Health focusing on Leisure Behavior. Prior to the start of this program, Mr. Stanojevic has gained extensive experiences in working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder within the field of special education and rehabilitation. He received his master’s degree in Physical Education and Sports from University Union Nikola Tesla, Belgrade, Serbia and is certified Equine Assisted Therapist. His line of research is focusing on population diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and on the interventions that relate to leisure and improved quality of life for these individuals. Cedomir is a recipient of numerous scholarships and rewards such as Lebert H. Weir Doctoral Student Award and Garret G. Eppley Outstanding Accomplishment Scholarship.

Ivanka Simić Stanojević,

MS

Ivanka Simic Stanojevic is a first-year Ph.D. student at Indiana University’s School of Public Health with a major in Leisure Behavior. Ms. Simic Stanojevic holds a master’s degree in Special Education and Rehabilitation from the University of Belgrade, Serbia and she is dedicated to exploring and establishing evidence-based practices that improve mental health and overall well-being for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities

Her line of research is focusing on the sexuality and sexual health of women with disabilities. More specifically, Ms. Simic Stanojevic aims to examine attitudes of recreation therapists towards the sexuality of women with intellectual disability.

Clara Valentine

Clara is a third-year student pursuing a bachelor’s of science in elementary and special education with a license addition in English as a new language. She is broadly interested in conducting educational research to improve learning outcomes and quality of life for individuals with disabilities. Clara is the undergraduate lab manager for the community-based rehabilitation team with Dr. Jennifer Piatt where she works with fellow undergraduates on a variety of projects. She also serves as an undergraduate research assistant in the School of Education with Dr. Kelly Williams. Clara is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the IU Journal of Undergraduate Research, which publishes research conducted by IU undergraduate students. Clara is a professional member of Kappa Delta Pi Educational Honor Society, the Council for Exceptional Children, and the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals.
